Stuart Lamont

Weathered Tree

This was taken on a bitterly cold winters morning near Duncow in Dumfriesshire. I had been scouting
the area looking for a location to shoot when I drove past this tree sitting in a meadow which was a
stroke of luck. It was a really difficult shot to compose as there were trees right at my back and this
composition was the best I could do under the circumstances. I really liked the warm dappled sunlight
hitting the trunk of the tree which contrasted well with the frosted field and the blue sky behind.
