Roxy Russell
Ness Captured
This is a two week pinhole photograph. I made a camera with a
drinks can, black paint, a pin hole
and Ilford multigrade paper, taped it
to a fence by Stogh beach in Ness
(Isle of Lewis) and left it there for
two weeks. I scanned in the nega-
tive and on photoshop changed it
in to positive.
* The special commendation was awarded to Roxy’s image as it was unique amongst all the submissions. The
image itself is not high impact or immediately apparent but it is photography at its most basic form, going back
over 150 years. The image shows the path of the sun each day as it moved across the scene. The gaps are due to
cloud where the sun was not visible. It is well worth finding out more about pinhole photography.
