A brief spell of sunshine on a dark stormy day gave the standing stones a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

East Vows Beacon

Elie Ness, Fife

This beautiful beacon was built in 1846 to mark rocks, and the cage acting a refuge for shipwrecked mariners. A long exposure smoothed the sea and sky and helped to contrast its angular structure with the rounded Bass Rock in the hazy distance.
