The Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year – Collection 1 is packed full of breathtaking images of Scotland’s land, sea and urban places, all captured by the winning and commended photographers that took part in the inaugural competition in 2014.
This limited edition softback book showcases the winning and commended photographs from the first ever Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. The competition is the brainchild of Stuart Low, one of Scotland’s respected landscape photographers. A true evangelist of photography, he founded the competition with the aim of promoting the breathtaking Scottish scenery and raising the profile of today’s talented photographers. He put the entire competition together without any funding or support, instead relying on his own savings to bring the event to the world.
The proceeds of the book go back towards building the competition and supporting photographers. The competition is a true photographer of the year event, where the winners are awarded on a portfolio of images rather than a single image. The photographers showcased in the book come from across the globe and have captured the incredible beauty of the Scottish land, coastal and urban views. Scotland’s scenery is ranked by Lonely Planet and National Geographic as one of the top 10 places in the world to visit for landscape views. Scotland’s heritage is celebrated by people across the globe and entries are welcome from everyone from across the world. The chapters include, the portfolio section for overall winners, landscape category, seascape category, urban category and the young Scottish photographer of the year.
